We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to assist youths during short coding sessions to be held once per month. Volunteers will act as a mentor for groups of roughly eight to 12 students working independently and collectively on projects. We will meet on the second Monday of each month for 90 minutes plus set up time. What you'll do: Troubleshoot along with students as they work through problems with their projects Help students learn how to work through problems with their group or on their own.

What you have:

Basic understanding or willingness to learn basic text-based coding principles.

Skill in working with attention to detail.

Skill in being organized and reliable.

Ability to share experiences and insights within the field.

Ability to work with kids from all backgrounds and age groups.

Ability to assist in self-education for empowerment, independence, and integration.

Ability to demonstrate positive attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively and openly communicate with library staff.

Ability to pass a background check.


Each class requires approximately 2 hours which includes coaching time, prep and breakdown. Its okay if you can only make it to some of the classes, as we are looking to build a pool of volunteers to support this ongoing effort.
